CBT and A1. Yamaha YBR125

If you are 17 or over, taking a CBT on a geared bike you will be using one of these. At 17 to 19 years of age if you wish to take an A1 test, again this is the bike you will use. Between the ages of 17 and 19 you can only ride a 125 even if you pass both Mod 1 and Mod 2. Our CBTs are held in Whitby every weekend and once successfully completed a CBT certificate lasts for 2 years. Contact us for pricing and availability Candidates taking their tests are required to have a valid CBT certificate unless they are upgrading from one licence category to another.

A2. Triumph Trident 660

(restricted)

For those students between the ages of 19 and 21 a full A2 licence is available after successfully passing Modules 1 and 2. The test is exactly the same as that taken on at A1, albeit on a bigger and more powerful bike. Students will use one of our unbelievable Triumph Trident 660 motorcycles. Success at A2 allows the rider to have a bike not exceeding 47bhp or a bike restricted to that figure providing that its unrestricted horsepower is not more than twice that amount. After two year’s experience at A2 or upon reaching the age of 24 an A2 licence can be upgraded to A by taking the Module 1 and 2 tests again on an A standard bike. You would not require a valid theory certificate as long as you have two year’s experience. If a student reaches 24 years of age prior to two years then a valid theory test will be required. We can offer lessons and guide you through this process.

The Enhanced Rider Scheme (ERS)

Holders of a full motorcycle licence can take the enhanced rider scheme. The scheme is beneficial to all bike riders who have a full motorcycle licence, no matter what size of bike, or the experience level of the rider. There is no test involved and you may not need to take any training if your skills are assessed as satisfactory. You could also earn discounts on your insurance as a result! Your first step is to pay us a visit so we can assess your riding skills. If you have no significant areas of weakness, we will give you a DVSA Certificate of Competence. You can then get an insurance discount from one of the many insurers who have signed up to support the scheme. If you do have areas that would benefit from further training, you would qualify for your certificate after successfully completing the recommended training. By having your riding ability assessed, we can tailor a development programme to suit your needs. Many of the leading motorcycle insurance companies have signed up to this scheme and are prepared to offer substantial discounts to riders who have shown they can ride to the ERS standard and have received a certificate. Call us for more details.
